ICT in CLIL
Dear friends,
I'm supposed to post about how to use ICT in CLIL, but actually I haven't an activity thought on that purpose, since as long as I plan activities on CLIL methodology, ICT resources are involved on them, maybe because the trainings I've done we're focused on that approach.
Anyway, Here I share with the specific activity description using ICT resources.
Keep in touch,
Quim

Evaluation i Assessment
Hi mates!
On this module I learnt differents point of view for assessment and evaluation in CLIL.
I'll share with you different assessment tools I prepared,
First is a Rubric to evaluate the activity "Creating a Mind Map about Global Environmental Issues", you can check it here.
Second is a Self assessment tool based on a Bullseye target, to assess the student knowledge about quite different parts of the lesson. So it could be used at the end of the Unit.
Third is a Peers assessment, to work in pairs, and review their learnings about Mediterranean Plants in the climate adaptation approach. Here you can see it.
Finally we were asked to prepare a Thinking routine assessment, chosen from the list you can find at Visible Thinking. I choose the Headlines as I consider very useful since it allows me to assess during the lesson the contents we learnt, summarizing them in a Headline, as well as assess at the end of the unit the global knew knowledgments achieved and comment it in a wholegroup activity.
So, in conclusion, I found very interesting the different ways to approach the necessary assessment, as it makes it much more interesting that traditional exams or KWL writings, and allows me as a teacher improve during the activity. The activities that made us to prepare some assessment tools as it could be used immediately in our unit plans are for sure the best way to learn this new methodologies.
In order to learn more about assessment tools, I would like to know experiences of peer and self assessment, specially analysing how can we be sure that the students are being enough objectives, as I have the felling that friendship may cause very generous grading.
Thanks!

Cooperative learning and planing CLIL Tasks
Hi
mates,
in
this post I'd share some activities around Cooperative learning and planning
CLIL tasks.
First
of them I tried to identify the communication skills we'll develop through the
unit plan. I share you the doc saved on my GoogleDrive here.
Next
step was to decide how to organize my class, and plan some cooperative learning
activities. I believe its more rewarding to change the people you work with
during the learning process, so in fact I did'nt choose a one way to organize
my classroom, instead of that, I'll change from the wholegroup to work in
groups of four to pairs depending on the activity. Here you can see the cooperative
learning activities I proposed.
I
think that the class set is quite important to make a comfortable learning
environment too, therefore I designed a simple Inphography, sure it may be extended
and improved, but I think it helps to get into the subject, you can see it here.
Finally I tried to think about the knowledgment my students should bring with them to he unit, which ones we may achieve during the lessons and what should they´ve learned for sure at the end. I share it with you.
About
my learnings in this unit, I must say that I knew the most part of
subjects we talked about from another CLIL course I realized before. However It
remains being difficult for me to understand the difference between
"language for" and "language through". I find very clear
the description of BICS and CALP as theorized by Jim Cummins but can't see how
"language through" distinguish from "language for". I'll
keep investigating about it and I would be very grateful to anyone who could
help me on that.
See
you soon.

Activities module 1_SWOT analysis about CLIL and UNit Planning
Hi fellows,
In my first post I'll share the activities done in module 1 of Why Not CLIL? Course, I'm having in Espiral
The first activity was a SWOT analysis about CLIL, you can see it here.
The second task I'd share is my unit planning, check out it here.
Looking over this module, I realize that I've learnt to have a general look over CLIL methodology, by analysing its strenghts, weaknesses, oportunities and threats by means of SWOT analysis. I would highlight from this part that CLIL methodology can be a great way to improve our didactic skills, but it needs a committed teamworking from different deppartments of the center, and it may be difficult sometimes with the everyday problems to solve and tasks to do.
By the Unit plan I learned to preview the concepts and connections to work with, that may be very helpful when planning the specific activities of the unit.
The main difficult I had to face was to analyse and summarize the main aspects of the unit I'd plan to do, specially whan talking about connections among different subjects,
Actually I haven't figured out yet if I understood properly the law aspects of the Unit plan, sure when I receive the task feedback I'll learn more about it.
In order to continue learning about CLIL, I'd ask to an experienced teacher which is the best way to check if our plannings match with the competences established by law.
Best regards,
Quim Gubau
